Have any of you used the Betta sand/gravel

to start your tanks? I ask because in a diff thread some said they hadnt heard of it before. I have some arriving tomorrow and can hardly wait to read the directions.

I've seen it at a lps, but it seemed pricy for the amount you get. I had thought about getting one bag to add to some regular substrate, but decided against it.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Will do. I purchased only a couple pounds, and bought it because its clean and black. =) But it does seem like a fast way to add a new fish. At the site, regarding the water, that you would do water change in 10 days (iirc), which seemed like a long time to wait, but im new to betta keeping.

I don't think I ever looked it up on line, I just saw it at a couple local pet stores (Pet Supplies Plus and I think Jack's Pets).

I too liked it because some options available were a smaller gravel, or clean black sand, but I couldn't justify the price.

Big Al's carries it. Im not sure we can link that? its not a forum so ....

Here

and then at big als

yes, it is expensive. Im just going to buy it over time if i like it, shipping wasnt that bad. I dont have any pet supply places that i can get too. So buy online. Although all the talk obout petsmart/petco bettas, makes me want to run fast and see them o.o. Costs me 80 bucks to go there and back.

Walmart carries the water, but its expensive.

The sand is a bio-mass and contains the bacteria, as if you took it from a cycled tank and used it in a new one. But I believe you need to use the water with it too. Ill see when i read the directions.

Maybe ill have a betta sooner than i think. <----- gets giddy

2.99 Doesn't seem too bad at all. Really. Your fish cost more than that.
