Actually, I have a 50w Hydor Theo in my 2-gallon Fluval Spec and it's been heating perfectly for the past month or two. We're having a rather cold summer here with the exception of a few days (highs in the mid-60s, lows in the low 50s), and I like my flat on the cold side. Keeps the temp at a steady 26.5 degrees celsius / a touch below 80 Fahrenheit. It was the online seller's error that they sent me the 50w instead of the 25w, but since it was during a cold snap, I had no choice but to make do with it.
My other heater was a non-adjustable 10w and was overheating the aquarium, despite being of a much lower wattage.
