Well ... I made my trip to the pet stores today....here is what happened.
My local PetSmart....their Bettas were in exceptionally clean containers and all looked in excellent condition.
They had a wonderful selection too. I spoke to the salesperson and told her how impressed I was with how their Bettas looked. She said they take good care of them and do complete water changes a few times a week. I also asked her to tell the store manager how impressed I was and to keep up the good work. She said she would be sure to tell him. She was very happy that I gave their Betta section an excellent review.
NOW...next stop....local PetCo

PetCo I found about 12 Bettas that were dead !!!!
I put their containers in a separate section and found the store manager. I requested that he follow me to the Betta section and showed him the DEAD Bettas and told him that it was unacceptable. He was livid !!! He immediately went to find the girl that was in charge of the fish dept. and told her to remove the dead ones and CLEAN OUT ALL OF THE OTHER BETTA CONTAINERS.....YAY !!!!!!!!!!!! As I wandered around the fish dept., I saw her doing what he said. The manager told me that he would make sure Betta care would be corrected. I will stop in and check them out in a few days. If I see the same sh*t going on again...I will find the manager AGAIN. The Bettas that were still alive were very beautiful and active in their containers....believe me...I checked EVERY one!!

... I am afraid to look at the Bettas in those damn little bowls. I already have a Betta and cannot afford another 5 gallon tank and accessories set up ... damn it!!! I cannot resist looking at how bad they are taken care of .... I want to save all of them.
