I don't know why I am starting this thread, I feel that I should share my experiences with Henry and maybe learn more about how to care for these little treasures.
We lost our first betta Rupert (R.I.P) . We did everything we could to save him the moment he looked down and out. We talked to numerous people in our community and many online communities researching and running around trying to find answers and cures.
I will try and post updates with pictures and information here on a regular basis to monitor whatever it is we do to help Henry live a long, happy and healthy life.
I am also confident that I will earn a lot from some of the kind and knowledgeable folks in this forum.
I wish I knew what I might have done wrong with my first betta, rest his soul. (I could answer some questions too.)

What temperature is your tank?: 75-80 degrees
Does your tank have a filter? : YES
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? NO
Is your tank heated?: We have a heater, but only use it in the winter.

- Betta Buffet pellets

- 2 pellets once a day.

Maintenance

- Once a week

Rupert started to just lay down at the bottom of his tank for most of the day. We noticed it right away and brought samples of his water to a professional who helped us make it right. It looked like he was getting better but then he just started hanging around at the top corner of his tank. He seemed to be breathing heavy and hiccuping. We quarantined him and noticed that he was not pooping (He always used to have great big poops!)
We tried the pea thing, even though I read that its just a rumor that it helps. We were desperate and wanted to try everything.
He was on the counter swimming up a storm as I was preparing breakfast. He looked like he was in a panic and I just knew something was not right. Rest his soul. He meant a lot to me.
We had him since Aug 1st 2011 and he passed away on July 9th 2012.

OMG Henry is beautiful! Where on earth did you find a solid color betta? (They're actually hard to find here)

So far so good...Henry is flaring and his water is clear.
