Some fry are too small to eat bbs from the beginning and will starve.
At 8 days old, provided they have been growing normally, they should be big enough to eat bbs.
Look at their bellies, if they look round and full they are eating. If they are eating bbs they will appear orange in color (the bellies), if they are eating infusoria in the water they will look white in color.
