I might buy the marina i25 internal filter for my 5 gallon tank that would house a couple of males.(divided)...then I'll order some sponge filter on other website for my fish tank and betta tanks.

I went sponge filters on ALL of my aquariums and I have 2 HOB filters just in case I need them (one came with my new 5.5 gallon, the other is a penguin biowheel)

I got mine from my local World Of Wet Pets and 90% of the writing on it is in chinese, but it's almost identical to this one

I like this one because it's 20 gallon approved, and it's tall.. some are short and fat.. up to you which one you use, but tall and skinny IMO is better :)

The internal filter is good, many use it, but there's no way to block the intake incase the betta needs less flow into it. The ones with the long uptake tube can at least have a sponge put on it or nylons (yeah, like panty hose)

Actually, I have the Tetra 10i In Tank Power Filter and I think I have a way to buffer or baffle the flow even though its not technically an adjustable filter. I plan on taking a filter sponge (from another filter of mine that I no longer use) and attach it to the intake vents via a plastic string.

I've tried a few filters, but I LOVE my sponge filter! I got one at a fish store about 45minutes from me, but am ordering another 2 from this site:

I am also ordering an air pump from there too! My only advice is try and fine THE quietest air pump you can... the one I have right now is very annoying, luckily it is drowned out by my air conditioner, no idea how I will deal with it this Fall

I put a sock under mine..

The blue whisper ones are the quietest. I bought one from my LFS that was a brand I've never heard of, and it's noisy and the power cord is hella short. I'll only buy the whisper ones from now on

Mine is a "Rena" air pump and it is SO noisey!
I have it sitting on a bunched up towel, and it's still loud...

I am going to be trying the "Fusion" air pump, found here:

As I have heard they are very quiet! I am hoping they are as quiet as I have been told...

I'll be ordering the sponge filters on that website! I decided to not purchase the internal filter from petsmart.

o.o about the noise of the air pumps. I'm deaf and I think it shouldn't be problem for my room & me... XD I have about 8 small air pumps and I would able to use them when I order 6 10 gal sponge filters this

I would be fine with every air pump I have or bought because I'm deaf.. o.o which shouldn't be a problem for me. lol.

I had one air pump that pumps the airstone for my 10 gallon fish tank (non betta, just mix of tropical fish) that pump was very quiet in the kitchen & didn't bother anyone lol. I think it was a PETCO air pump... o.o
