New Tank

So I called a pet store near me that had a Tank on display with a Betta in it that I liked, to find out the cost of them and she said well we have none in stock but I will sell you our display one and I've you $5 off and you can keep the gravel and plant too.

My question is do I really want a used tank? I'm not so sure.

Nothing wrong with an used tank unless it's acrylic.
The problem with acrylic is that it scratches easily and if it's been on display is very likely that people have been touching it... a lot.
Ask her what time of guarantee she gives you if the filter happens to fail.
Go and inspect the heck out of the tank, ask her how long it's been on display and make a decision.
But if you can easily find the tank somewhere else, then I say go for a new one.

It's only a 2gal so no filter or anything to it. It's a Zoo Med Rectangle Betta Tank.

nothing wrong with used tanks :O just clean it out like you would with a regular obe :) I like the look of those zoomed tanks. and seeing that they've already tested its waterproofedness for you, and if it's adfordable, I'd say... go for it!

edit: just saw ur post about the price. you can get glass 2.5gs at petsmart for $15 :D

Then $5 off is a good deal. Most stores will only give you 10%.
Go check it out and get it if it's in good condition. Just wash it well when you get home.

$50 for a zoo med? Wao!
Being an acrylic, if you can get it new then do. Make sure they will honor the sale when the tank gets in.

Yes, you will be ok with the heater.
The tanks does have a small opening at the top so you would have to make sure you can get your heater inside.
