Meet Cesar!

Hi Everybody!

I wasn't sure where to post these pics and then I saw several "meet" type of posts. I hope you guys don't mind, I'm very excited about my new Betta... I got him at Petsmart (sorry!) and the container said "halfmoon double tail".

I saw him and it was love at first sight... I had to bring him home! Anyway, he's super aggressive.. constantly flaring at his own reflection and swims around like he's looking for trouble. lol!

Thanks guys... do these fish normally stalk their humans? I woke up last night and looked over (he's on a 5 gallon tank next to my bed) and there he was, just staring at me.

He's handsome!! Looks like he's overcoming tail biting. That's no problem, the translucent part on the edges means it's growing back! Just keep his water really clean :)
Is his belly still that full?? I wouldn't feed him for 2 days or so. It will be hard to refuse him but overfeeding is one of the biggest problems bettas encounter. They will literally eat until they die (must not have hypothalamus). Once his belly goes down, you can feed him 2-3 pellets once or twice a day.
He is such a pretty color! Also, you came to the right forum ;)

ah! I did not know this (about over feeding them). I've had aquariums before (tetras, guppies and cichlids) but never a betta so I'm not sure how to tell when they're overfed. I will not feed him for the next day or so and see if his belly goes down. Thank you!

I have him in a 5 gallon tank with a continuous filter running (he loves hiding under it; I've difused it with a sponge because I read that they don't like currents) and the water is crystal clear. I'm buying a baster to take out the uneaten food.

lol I only bought a turkey baster 2 weeks ago or so.. Best investment ever!! haha!
And yes, my fish stalk me too. I tricked Ludendorff a few weeks ago with a drawing of a betta.. After that he was just staring at me. o.o

I currently have a tank at work with 7 redeye balloon tetras and 3 guppies. I used to have other tanks at home but have moved a few times and it just becomes cumbersome to move everyone (plus they don't like it) so I just left my tank at my old place with my old roomate.

I adopted Cesar on impulse and because I couldn't resist the way he looked at me at the store. So, back to square one...
