My name is Scott, I've just sold my house because my partner and I are in the process of moving to Hudson River valley. However I'm sort of stuck in Yakima, WA for a few more months. The partner took the dogs with him to NY, and so I decided to get a betta for company. The new guys name is Draugur (Icelandic for ghost). If you look at my profile pic you'll know why. He's ablsolutly lovely, and seems to be adapting to his new home.

I've dabbled with fish keeping in the past, but only once before with a betta. The fourm was a valuble resource as I was researching how to best provide for my new ward. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.

Check out my album with a couple of pics of the new tank. And, if anyone has suggestions for traveling with a betta. I'd be grateful. I'll be moving across the country in December or January. Guess I didn't think too far ahead.

Toad, thanks for the welcome. Like you I lurked a bit before joining. 'Gur seems to be settling in quite well. Hoping to be back with the family by December. I'm missing the pups, and they seem to be having some health issues, so I'm a bit anxious about them. Hopefully they'll right themselves.

Looked at the pics of your guys. Real beauts. Hope Rosco's eye is not causing him too much trouble.

Thanks for the welcome, and Indjo, thanks for the advice on traveling with bettas. Hoping that 'Gur will survive the trip, I could ship him in advance, but my partner while great with dogs wouldn't have a clue when it came to fish. I guess I'll have to come up with a first class transport capsule for the trip. Shouldn't be too much trouble. I once traveled by car with a bird from San Francisco to Seattle; I can't imagine a betta could be much more difficult.
