What is normal behavior of betta?

What is normal behaviors of betta so I will know when he's sick or stressed ? How do you when a betta is stressed out?

Like my betta has been laying at the bottom for like 2 days, but he is still getting excited over food and cautious and chase my fingers and stuff.

Thanks :D

That's why it's better to get a larger tank with some decorations, once every couple weeks switch them out to give them new places to explore. Just make sure your decorations don't have sharp edges where their fins can get torn/caught.

When I almost cooked my bettas by leaving them out by the windowsill, I noticed my male halfmoon was acting strange. Instead of swimming around, he was hiding.

When I found him, he was clinging to the side of the log decoration. Thought it was weird, so I put a thermometer in the tank he was in and the water was almost 100 degrees.

I'm lucky I moved his tank out with the new bettas, otherwise half of the new additions would been cooked by the time I got home in the evening.

Just sounds like your betta is bored right now.

Once your larger tank is cycled, he should liven up.

Yeah! I hope so. He swam in and out the house and poked his head out the windows then laid on the hammock leaf then slept behind the heater hahaha. But he should be in the new tank by the end of this week!!

You'll get familiar with your betta's behavior after a week or two :) A loss of appetite and interest in food is often a sign of illness in bettas, so you don't really need to worry about anything unless he won't eat or looses interest in food. If this happens, though, I would try new food (maybe frozen brine shrimp) first. But it sounds like your fish is doing well!

General betta behavior consists of swimming, occasional rests, healthy appetite, fins that aren't clamped for long periods of time, curiosity, and reaction to surroundings.

Each betta will develop some quirks that he or she will exhibit while they are healthy.
