"overly planted"?

I have a 4G (eheim tank) tank that is heavily planted... all of the plants (Java fern, water wisteria, bacopa & hornwort) are thriving...
My question is, since the bacopa and wisteria have now reached the top of the tank, do I clip? Do I thin them out?

The hornwort floats and has long roots, the Java is spreading and sending off smaller plants... My betta hardly has any room to move... but seems to like resting on the hornwort and java fern...

The ammonia levels rarely change and the pH is remaining constant... I only have to do water changes every other week... good thing, right?

Should I remove plants, thin, etc?

I also have two nerite snails that do great job removing dead leaves and algae...

I think it looks good! If you feel the plants are getting to thick, trimming them down or back will be fine.

I don't think it's overly planted at all. Your tank looks lovely.

I'd just leave it for the moment, tbh. The taller plants are great betta hammocks and it doesn't look scruffy.

If you trim the wisteria, uproot it and cut the bottom off, replant the top half. It'll grow better than the bottom half, which tends to get 'tired' after a trim.

Great to hear the plants are doing their job, it seems a nice healthy tank.

Thanks all... I guess my pic is deceiving... all of the plants are at the top of the tank now.... and the Java has spread across the bottom...

I will thin out the hornwort and water wisteria and add to my other tank...

Actually I would say moderately planted...

Just clip the wisteria further down and replant, it will then send off two new stems where you cut, or at the nodes, and you will have even more plants.

That is a beautiful home. I do not think fish mind it at all. If I am a fish I love heavily plant tank. I can swim between plants with no problem.

Trust me, your betta would rather have it planted moderately-heavily, then one plant. It makes them feel more secure.
