Breeder Hopeful

Hello! I made a previous post with my first HM male I bought from the minnesota betta shop, This is the Second Male I bought. He is a royal blue HM butterfly if I'm not mistaken. Some of the pictures are blurry but I wanted to show them to show his overal finnage. He would not flare at the other turqoise HM however, when he saw my DT male Mr. Cellophane, He went BAZURK! haha So My boyfriend Tried to take pictures of him, he is super active.

I want to know what you guys think of him, if he is good enough to breed, what to look for in a female, and what you guys think about a name

I appreciate all advice. Thanks!

Picture number 4 is really blurry but you can really see his fin outline.

He is blue and white. No greens or reds. He has a lovely upright dorsal which I loved , but I'd probably find him a DT female to broaden the dorsal. Just a thought. And I love Dt's anyways

What a lovely boy! He has great color and form (The only thing that is bothering me is his ventral's, I would prefer them to be fuller that what they are. Good length though.) He has great balance to him so I would make sure to keep that going in the line, it's hard to get back once you loose it.

I cannot wait to see what babies he will produce

Well this shop imports from a breeder in Thailand that is an ibc judge with a show line. So he has amazing stock in his shop. I have a hmpk pair coming from him next week. Gorgeous fish! Thanks for the compliments!

As long as you know what to look for, you could get gorgeous specimens from pet shops.
Get him a fairly equal formed female. Look for a caudal with pointy edges - IMO she doesn't have to be HM, super delta will do. Her dorsal doesn't have to be upright (breeders don't sell them) as long as it opens like a fan and balanced. If you don't get upright dorsals in F1, breed back to daddy.

Breeding to a DT should work.

Good luck breeding him.

Edit: If you know the shop buys from a show breeder, get a female from that shop too. It should make your work easier.
