Perseus is biting at his new live plant

I put a strand of Hornwort in the tank a couple of hours ago and Perseus is biting at it. Is he testing to see if its alive or what ? lol This is his first live floating plant so I guess he doesnt know what it is and he is checking it out big time !!!!! Should I take it out before bedtime ? He doesnt seem stressed just very interested in what this new thing in his home is. I should have put it in earlier but I didnt think it would be such a big deal to him and I was letting it soak in some tank water outside to get some good light and as it got closer to dark I decided to go ahead in put in the tank. Anyway any advice or has anyone else been though this situation ? Thanks !

All my fish like to nibble on the plants. Well, Cleo likes to attack hers, when she's frustrated about not being able to catch the shrimp...

It won't hurt him. He's probably just not used to plants, and everything is potential food to a betta. =P

Thanks Aus very much, yeah he acted like he was attacking it like your Cleo does..lol
He seems to be getting more used it now at least he is swimming in other areas before he goes right back to the plant and stares at it lol. Yep its his first live plant besides a couple of small moss balls. I sure love how the plants floats very nice looking.

LOL..Your so right I want more already !!! I have a couple stems of Anacharis I am putting in his tank today just cant decide if I want to let them float or try and put down in the gravel. My tank is 5 gallon but thinking I might upgrade to a 10 gallon more room for Perseus and more room for plants !
