swim bladder?

i bought a sickly betta from petsmart (floating at the top, thought he was dead) and im positive he has SBD. but i temporarily have him in a 1/2 gal kritter keeper since i didnt have anything else. i was wondering if i should just keep him in the clean water for a day and see how he does or if i should go ahead and do an epsom salt treatment?

If he is symptomatic....I would go ahead and start the Epsom salt and tannin treatment in the small QT covered with veggie wrap to retain heat/humidity for the labyrinth organ.....

another question. im leaving for the beach on sunday, and i was wondering if it would be better to leave him here and prevent stress from the car ride, or take him with me so i can treat him? ill be gone for about a week (maybe less im going to try and leave early) and my parents wont be able to treat him or change his water.

In a half gallon for a week without water changes could be risky, however, as long as he wasn't fed and/or you added a sprig of live plants to assist with water quality-he would most likely be fine.....
