New betta help

So I got a new betta, Casper. He's a cellophane halfmoon. He was doing okay last night, as good as a new betta can be. But today he's doing something weird. He's resting on a leaf of his silk plant but not moving at all. Nothing is moving. I mean, nothing. I see no movement in any of his fins, no movement in his gills, and when I tap gently on the tank nothing. He isn't dead because when I stick my finger in the water or try to scoop him up he swims away. What's wrong with him? I figured there would be some movement when I tapped on the tank...nothing. Any one know what to do? Thanks.

What's the water temperature? Does he have any other symptoms, like discoloration or stuff on his body?

What is the temp of your water ? Betta are more active in warmer water like 78 to 80 so if you can check and see what your temp is .

Sitting at 79-80F. He's moved over a little now resting on the thermometer. As for discoloration, he doesn't have color. He's cellophane lol.

Well it's obviously not temperature. And if there was discoloration it might be more apparent since he's colorless, but since he doesn't have any that's good. Have you tried to feed him yet?

I fed him this afternoon, he ate 3 pellets.

Huh, if he was actually as sick as he seemed he probably wouldn't have eaten. Maybe he's just dealing with stress?

I am new here and have a question. can i put 2 female bettas together with gouramis into a 40 gallon tank? my tank is not set up yet so i have my two females separate in a 2.5 gallon each. and i have 1 male in a 5 gallon.
