My friend gave me her old minibow 2.5 because she's moving and doesn't have any fish now. Problem is it has a spider-web crack in the bottom from her little brothers. It's leaking, and I had to empty it into a bucket until tomorrow (my dad's payday), when we can look into fixing it.
Do any of you know how to fix shattered plastic? I don't think we have the money or space for a new tank, and the filter and hood work fine.
I wonder if you could silicone the cracks, just as though they were seams in a regular fish tank?
I recently resealed a tank that a small animal had been living in. It's easy - you just use plain, 100% silicone from a hardware store, like Ace or Lowes, and a caulk gun. I borrowed the caulk gun and the silicone cost me $5.
I don't know the specifics on acrylic, though. Does silicone stick to everything? I mean, I guess even if you tried it and it didn't work, you could strip the silicone off and do something else...
My dad had the ultimate decision: PetCo trip. He wanted the 2.5hex but I didn't like it, plus it's a weird shape, and I already have a filter.
We got a 3.5 gallon kritter keeper and it's like a little mansion for him. I just need to start planting the other tank so I can transfer smaller plastic plants to the KK, and eventually live clippings.
