I would tend to believe that its either ich or internal parasites. The spot on the tail leads me to believe ich but that doesn't clump like that big one. The big one looks like its under the skin which is internal parasites. Has your friend noticed his poop being white and stringy?

My first instinct is for lymphocystis.

There is no real treatment for this, it is a viral disease. Clean water, especially should it "pop" or break. Keep him isolated, it can be spread to other fish if they share the same tank.

When I 1st saw that, I thought about a tumor but I don't think they look like that. I'm sorry about your friend's Betta. I don't think that's Ick. Ick looks smaller and multiplies quickly. :/

Most of what I know about lympho I've picked up from seeing what OFL has said and suggested to others. It is usually non fatal. However it has been know to grow in places that can cover eyes or mouths or obstruct gills or fins. If it grows in any of these places it can hamper vision, eating, "breathing" or swimming.

Google lymphocystis, and compare the pictures it shows. That's the best way to determine it (having never personally seen it). It resembles cauliflower shaped growths.

Hi guys,

Thank you very much your answers.
I really appriciate your kindness.
I didn't find deasese in Japanese.
The Betta, his skin is big than a few months.
I searched lymphocystis in Google. Yes, I saw many pictures.
Thank you so much. I will tell my friend.
She will appriciate your help, because she didn't find anything.

Anyway, what is Ick ? I didn't find anything.

ich is a fungus of sort that grows in white spots all over the fish. ich is short for Ichthyophthirius multifiliis. if you google this you can find many pictures of it as well.
