breeding dumbos?

I might not... But since I asked my area what they want for bttas I got tbe following answers:

Bright colors
Dumbo
Delta
Super delta
Crown tail
Halfmoon

My question is.... Breeding them.... What are the problems involved in breeding dumbos and ways to avoid or lessen deformity? Obviously first step is a quality pair... But I know nothing of them. They will not be my first (or in the next 3 to 5) spawn so do not worry i am not rushing into it. Just curious to hear from people who have bred dumbos...

I dont know much either I know its ressesive and hard to get.

Its interesting. Recessive trait.

However its no show fish. It can only be shown in variety. I'm directing any attention to them. I feel the pectorals just throw the fish off balance and they don't look as nice :/

A lot of uneven fin
One side might be bigger then the other
Two dumbo might produce to massive pfin
Just image a pfin that look like a rose tail cfin
U just have to pick out from the bunch
Which require cull

Oh wow lol. So it would be a possible continuous line breeding with tons of culling.... Yikes lol. They definitely will not be bred any time soon!!

Just starting in Big Ear, I have two spawns of half breed that don't show the trait, at least not yet.

They swim just fine thank you very much! I Breed Half Moons and over Half moons so they take a bit more effort to swim anyways. But they always seem to get where they are going, where ever that is... Its not like they have to do a mile!

As far as showing.... I can remember when Half moon was not a type in the shows... I'll be looking for big ears soon!

Hmm alright. I saw dumbo HMPK (I believe) which looked good and swam great lol. But i understand the risk of larger fins.

I have spawned my dumbo pair twice. There was only 2 out of 200 that I spotted with any signs of genetic issues

Big ear on a placket just looks well... strange and out of place. It looks much more natural on Half Moons... A crown tail Big ear? I wonder if the crown tail would move to the ears??
