Mine is doing pretty good. I quarantined mine for about a week or so in tap water then rinsed it in conditioned water and put it in my tank. I may get another one.

I put it in water and squeezed it until it ran clear. The chucked it in the tank and forgot about.
So easy its not funny.

I did the same thing with mine when i got it. Squeezed it out, rinsed it, did a water change and put it in. And Honeycomb is exactly the same :)

But Lebron is right

I didn't quarantine mine, either, but I would do that if I bought another in the future; I only rinsed it out. I'm terrible with plants, and the moss ball is supposed to be easy to care for, so it was my first choice. When I gravel vac, I just roll the moss ball around a bit so he doesn't get any flat spots.

I also did the rinse-and-plop-in-tank. Freyja didn't pay it much mind until recently, when she's begun to peck at it.

I ripped a little bit off so I would get a new moss ball, but now it is like splitting in half . . . so annoying!!

Are there any advantages to putting marimo moss balls in with your bettas, or is it mostly for decoration?
