Hello! I'm new here and I wanted to find a forum for betta fish as I did for my leopard gecko.

I have a betta named Kisame. He's a royal blue halfmoon I believe. He is bicolored with red on his fins. He's currently recovering from tail loss because I wasn't sure if our tap water was safe so I used bottled water...which was apparently dechlorinated and kept eating away at his tail fin.

I'm 19 and a first time betta keeper so I hope to turn to this forum for help. :>

Hi Miko,

Welcome to the forum Kisame is a real beauty.
Tap water is fine for water changes if you use a good conditioner like Seachem Prime or API Stress Coat.

I do use a tap water conditioner when I change his water. He's in too small of a tank but I'm hoping to get him at least a 2 gallon tank for him to swim in. He'll be so much happier when I do. It took a lot of convincing to get my stepmom and dad to agree. And yes, Kisame is in the avatar. :3

Thank you. I hope to like it here very much. My stepsister and I have the most beautiful bettas I have ever seen. (In my opinion) Hers I think is a halfmoon but it has the greenish metallic sheen to it. It kinda looks like this but it's not the fish. Just looks like it.
