Daily water changes are best, with salt treating, replace salt as you go, for the first 2 days it is recommended, then you can narrow to a 50% on third day..If you have or can get a Kritter keeper, 1.75 gal it is great for a Hospital tank, or if your using your reg tank, yes I advise changing the water, and keeping clean and warm; aids in speedy recovery:)

Thanks for the advice everyone. Lucky for me he does not have fungus or ick! I think he has a internal parasite, my female betta in a 10g had the same problem.

I could only get these pictures, he would not stop moving around the tank.

I checked him, no fungus, no ick. He opened his fin today and ate all of his food.
