The bookshelf aquarium is one of the best tanks you could house your betta in. Time and time ahain, I've seen the bookshelf tank praised highly in this forum. I personally don't own it but I definitely want it if I ever get a new tank.
With tanks, it's all personal preference to you. All of them are great though :)

I have one of the bookshelf tanks, divided, and it's very nice. My marble CT is already in it, and his soon to be tankmate is still in QT after purchase. The filter is a hang on the back though, so you can't place it flush with something on the rear side. I put an internal filter on it so I could place it where I wanted. My only wish for this tank is that it had a day/night type light hood.

That's a tetra whisper 10i I have hanging in mine, you can see it on the left. I had to adjust it as low as it would go to allow the hood to sit properly. As long as you can adjust the height of the Aqueon, I imagine it would work also. The 10i is an adjustable flow, so I have it on the lowest setting and it seems very gentle indeed.

I have one of the 2.5 gallon Aqueon Minibows and I love it. I don't use a filter in it, but I haven't yet had to replace the light, so it seems to be a very well-made tank.
