Decent set up on a budget

Want to save one of those bettas sitting in a little cup, but can't afford a good setup?
Did you buy a half-gallon cube and realize you need to upgrade, but don't really have the money to do so?

Well I found a way can give your little friend a good home that meets all of his basic needs on a budget:

Why is this good?
It gives a betta a foot of swimming length and enough room to very comfortably turn around, so he will get plenty of exercise.

It comes with a small, gentle filter. So the water will stay a bit cleaner and you might even get a cycle going!

It comes with some gravel and a SILK plant, which is perfect for a betta to hide and rest in, because silk is gentle enough not to hurt him

The tank has a hood so he won't jump out!


Now all you need is a heater....and this one would work for that tank:

This is the cheapest heater I could find for the wattage(I know it says up to 1.5 gallons, but it should be fine for 1.77 gal).

Generally people like adjustable heaters better, but this one should work fine for keeping the tank at a stable temperature.

There! You did it! A humane set up for under $35!

When I was setting up my 10 gallon just 3 weeks ago I was looking for a hood and didn't want to pay like 30 bucks for one. I posted on craigslist pet's section and got a reply..Got a hood, wood stand and 3 filters. I check there everyday to see what I can find.

Oh yes! Used option are good for a budget as well! But sometimes you can't find the used thing your looking for in your area and you know how people are... They like to have new things lol :)

My daughter had that tank (pink version) for her betta, who decided to go swimming over the rainbow. Its a good starter setup. Maybe a year back Petsmart was selling it reduced to clear online for $4.99 :-O
