What Is Wrong With Fins ??

I have noticed recently that Sparkle's fins look different than when I originally got him. I hope the pics are easy to see the difference

His Pelvis (ventral) fin looks kind of 'ragged' now and his Cardal (tail) fin looks like it is 'jagged' or has 'square spots' removed from it.

It is hard for me to see .... but it looks like most of his fin edges are white ... I can see some dark edges past the white areas ... although it is difficult to see them...... I wish he would stay still for a "fin-check" !!! I even use a magnifying glass to try to get a better look

Here are some pics from about when I got him and some I took today.

Is he just tail-biting or is it fin rot or is it just my imagination ???

If anyone can post a good pic of an Orange VT showing how fins should look, I would appreciate it.

That looks like tail noming to me. The white edges are new fins growing in, and the black on the edges are probably just coloring. I would keep an eye on it just in case, but if it doesn't progress in a week then you don't have to worry.

Thanks for your response. I am so obsessed with my guy. I actually view him with the magnifying glass every single day !!!!

Jeepers Fish !!! He had such a beautiful tail.....wish he would not bite it.

lol my Patrick, Smitty and Walter all bite their tails. They do it because they have the super long and heavy tails and don't like the extra weight. Sometimes they just want to be plakats. lol
