2.5 gallon?

Newbie here! :D

All my shrimps had died off in my 2.5 gallon mini bow. I went out and bought a betta that had really curled fins, shaking, and seems to have a illness somehow.

Would it be okay if he lives in the 2.5 gallon? I have a filter going, a heater 10w heater, and live plants.

yes, but now you'll have to use your tank as a hospital tank. I hope you have salt & medications if your betta REALLY is sick.

I've never seen a fish shaking before.

What kind of shrimp did you have? How long did you keep them for?

If his fins are in bad shape, you might want to remove the filter; weak, sickly fish tend to get blown around in the current a lot.

Pictures?

I gave him a very low dose of aquarium salt and changed his water yesterday and today. He shakes like he has something on his head, quickly and violently.

I had red cherry shrimp for about 2-3 months.

I will get him a picture of him when I come back from school.

Any reason why the rcs died off? Just saying because if something killed them off (they are basically unkillable for many people, including me), it might pose a danger to your betta.

We had a long record of heat waves, and I failed to lower the water temperature enough to keep them alive. Also, I did not provide them with enough calcium to be able to molt out of their shell. (I found them bent over and mostly clear.)

If the fishy is trying to "Shake" somthing off of him, like rubbing against, or darting around, it may mean he has parasites, or Ich..you need the AQ salt treatment, but look with a flashlight to see if you see white fuzzy stuff, on his body or head, if Ich, you will need an Ich treatment, not sure if AQ salt for that, you may need an Empsom salt treatment for that..check for the "White fuzz" then update us on what you see, and add a pic..will help:)

Turn off or take out the filter for now, especially with treatment ongoing..

Well once he's healthy you will only have to do water changes twice a week.... But for now, do you have a 1 gallon bowl? It would make water changes and aq salt dosage easier.
