1 gallon bowls

So I've convinced the boyfriend to let me get another betta (yay!). However, he says I can only put it in a 1 gallon bowl since we have minimal space. Would that be okay? I know I can get a heater for a 1 gallon. But would this make me a bad betta owner?

I would probably keep him/her in a Kritter Keeper since they are square and can easily fit a heater on the side. How often would I have to clean it? I was thinking 2 50% and 1 100%, but I don't know.

Suggestions? Tips? Opinions? Thanks.

Lizzy

IMO/E the 1gal unfiltered containers are fine to keep the long fin males long term-provided that the needed water changes are made and temp maintained...

Water changes in a 1gal unfiltered without live plants...twice weekly...1-50% and 1-100% to maintain water quality....

If you have live active growing stem plants-twice weekly 50% and if you have lots of active growing stem and floating plants....50% weekly and if its a NPT soil based-once mature and thriving- 50% every couple of months.....

OFL, you are a complete blessing. Thank you so much.

Would a Kritter Keeper work? I know people keep bettas in there, but what about the cords for the heater, with the lid on it where does the cord go?

Some kritter keepers have holes for cords and stuff.
