I think they are beautiful bettas, but I'm assuming they are pet stores bettas & therefore you don't know their genetics (?). If so, the fry may not look like he parents, they will inherit traits from their grandparents & even further beyond.

Do lots of research if you still want to go through with it.

I wouldn't recommend breeding these crowntails because they don't have good form. They're basically your petstore fish with curled rays because of your hard water. Even if you raise a successful fry I doubt anyone would want to buy mediocre betta.

From the looks of it that girl is a bit on the small side for your male.

I agree with VictorP
Crowntails with rays like that are mediocre at best and check Aquabid. People want amazing looking CT's with uncurled rays. They need pristine water conditions (possibly RO water) to keep the rays from curling.

Go to bettysplendens.com and bettatalk.com Read it all and read Every sticky in the breeding section

Studying form helps you to find a good pair based on your own knowledge.

Your CT is rather pet store quality BUT the fins bending/sloping is IMO not due to hard water. It's more because he has thin rays which aren't strong enough to support his fins.

If you want to improve him, you would need to find a female with very thick rays.
