Alright - just an update.

I've switched him to his old tank (.5G) and started the epson salt treatment. I bought test strips to see about the water and the results are as followed:

pH: 7.2
Alkalinity: 120
Hardness: 300 (high?)
Nitrite & Nitrate: 0

I'm not sure on the hardness but I know most bettas will adapt to hard water so I wouldn't worry about that to terribly much. Keep us updated on how he's doing over the next couple of days.

No change today. He's still laying on the bottom or in the fake plant close to the top. Still reacts and darts around when I approach the bowl. I changed the water today and will continue to monitor it.

it'll take at least 48-72 hours to see a change in behavior. Your doing good though, keep up on the water changes

No change and its the morning of day 6. I stepped up the espom salt. His fins seem to be thinning even more? Is that normal?

Are they thinner or just getting clear?

I can't really tell. The dorsal fin is split right down to the body now and the tail-fin is split to the body in a new place. I'm not sure how it happened.

I've hit day 7, so I took him out and put him in regular water again. His condition did not change at all over the week. Could it be anything else?

No other signs. Still just laying on the bottom or in the fake plant. Curved body.

Not sure who that is?
