I'm sorry, Heartstrings...

Heartstrings was my beautiful mustard gas rescue from Petsmart. He had tail rot almost down to his body when I bought him, and I tried to treat it, but the rot was already progressed too far and it was too late for the salt to do much good.
Sorry, pretty boy. I wish I could have helped you. You could have been so gorgeous when those pretty fins grew back out...I miss you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. At least he had someone fighting to help him, and he passed in a good setting.
