Well, I'm in the process of choosing my new fish! But I've reached a bit of a dilemma. I was planning on getting a well bred show fish, but yesterday I went to my LFS and seen this gorgeous little super delta. He had bad finely and his cup was super dirty. What annoyed me more is that the guy who owned the store came up to me and said that all his fish were beautiful, while in fact more than half had finrot and filthy water. I was so upset I walked out and started crying. I really wanted to get the Super Delta as a rescue, but I'm still confused as to wether I should get the HMPK with top breeding. Any suggestions would help heaps right now!
i personally would get the show quality one... because i wouldnt support a store that has fish in that condition. sure you would be saving that fish, but in the long run youre helping him make money to buy more fish to keep in those dirty cups...
Unless you can get the fish free I wouldnt get the delta cause you are supporting a bad company practice. However unless you want to breed your hmpk it all depends on personal opinion which fish is better.
I honestly at this point would rather jsut go to my petsmart. I believe they have might Show Quality fish themselves, considering all fish are A-Ok and all the fish are happy, healthy, and have stunning fins. I'd rather spend $10 on a fish there than $50 on Aquabid
Of course, I'm going to be the odd duck here - I think it's more about your connection to an individual animal than it is about bloodline, unless you are planning on breeding and showing.
I would complain - loudly - to the pet store owner and advocate for those sick fish. You can help them without taking them home with you. But, if you do take them home, I won't judge you for it - my 3 newest kids were the filthiest little things on the shelf in Walmart, and I just couldn't stop thinking about them dying in a cup full of ammonia. There were some really gorgeous fish there that I left, because they were cleaner and healthier, and I knew they'd be bought. My 3 probably wouldn't have been.
