WHAT?? That's TOO much. What brand is it? The maximum number of pellets a Betta can eat is 6 if it's micro-sized IMO.

I don't know about that one, although they look tiny, but 6 is good for a 24 hr per. However, I would change to a healthier food, there are others that have quality nutrients that your betta needs, and I am not sure if Tetra does, try Omega One or Hakari Gold,or New Life Spectrum for better protein value.

I just got a little guy who was on the skinny side. The store didn't feed them properly (at least it looked that way) but now that he is home with me, I will plump him up to normal weight :)

I had that! Those pellets are big so I suggest 2 pellets 2x per day when he's healthy. 5 pellets should be fed right now.
