Homemade lid for my 2.5g

This is the lid I made for Bella's new 2.5g rectangular tank. I used the backs from two cd cases, and the center from a cd case. A dab of super glue to hold them together. It fit perfectly, and she is safe...my little jumping girl!

That's genius! Great idea. I may have to copy that instead of buying a top.

Since you have a lid now I would recommend filling it up more, that way it is actually closer to 2.5 gallons. For functionality it works great!

Its funny even though I have an open top tank I still fill it to the bottom of the black trimming, I have only had girls jump when feeding. They love there food though!

Thanks AquaKai..I just bought the 2.5 to get her out of her bowl, but couldn't afford a lid...I can't believed this worked so well! lol

I would have just taken a storage bin lid and mercilessly chopped off a rectangle to fit the tank xD

Way to think outside the box! That is a great idea.

I just buy some plastic crafting mesh and cut it to fit. That only works on smaller tanks though.

It was really just a quirk. I was sitting in my room trying to figure out a good temporary top for her when I looked at a CD case. I took it and placed it long ways over the top..it fit! Of course it was not clear with the cd and cover in it. I pulled the case apart, and the back fit perfectly, again long ways, then I did another, but it left the center open, not enough for space for the one with the hole in it, so I put it over those two, and a couple dabs of super glue. I still can't believe how simple it was. Once in a while I have a "light bulb" moment lol!
