charles acting is wierd

hes been hanging out on the floor alot. doesnt hang out behind the heater much anymore. is it normal for him to just be chilling on the floor? the water seems fine. actually the ammonia was a little high a few weeks ago but i was able to bring it down.

advice?

what size tank do you have and how often do you change the water out?

ten gallons, water is changed every 5 days or so. 10 percent is changed. it has a filter.

no other fishes. it is heated but the heater is never on because the water stays between 80 and 82 degrees. i live in southwest texas haha.

/lol yeah its warm here in SD too... alright well I would maybe bump up water changes to 20%-50% a week. hmm is he bloated at all? do his fins look fuzzy? Shine a light on him, does he have a golden dust on him?

his colors have actually brightened over the last week or so. he doesnt look bloated. no gold dust, no fuzzy fins. he looks healthy other than the staying on the ground thing. tomorrow ill do a bigger water change than i normally do.

Maybe he is just tried and ready for bed they do rest and sleep at night. I would not worry I am sure he is fine. Let him get some rest I would turn off the lights they do need a day and night cycle. Check on him first thing in the morning and see if he is more active though the day.

now that you mention that, i have been working the last 4 days and i only see him at night when i get home and in the morning when i feed him. hmmm i have tomorrow off so ill pay more attention tomorrow.
