Kind of a stupid question...

Hi! I got a 10 gallon that I am currently cycling with 2 bettas in it, divided of course. I have throughly read Old Fish Lady's Nitrogen Cycle-Betta Specific sticky, plus my dad had a 70 gallon tank for many years BC (Before Children) & he's helping me, so I feel confident I can do it safely. My question is should I add an aquarium sponge in the filter so the good bacteria have more places to stick to? I've read on here that some people recommend a sponge filter for that reason. I have a Tetra Whisper Internal Power Filter 10i. http://www.petco.com/product/12460/T...t=OnSiteSearch
From what I read the bio-bag should work just fine, but I wanted to make sure. BTW, I obviously baffled it, but I also put plastic embroidery mesh around the bottom no fins can get sucked in, just in case anyone was concerned. :)

It wont hurt to have more place for bacteria growth. I replaced my filter pad with bonded filter material.

It never hurts to have more room for the bio-bugs. I've got larger than I need surface area for my BB in my betta tanks. I like to think of it as backup in case something happens. Plus, it will slow down the flow of the filter.
