Lowering tank temperature?

I have ten gallon tank with temperatures usually 82 to 84 degrees, and I want to lower it down to 77 to 79 for my other cories.

How do I do it or is it just too hot right now?

It's naturally that temperature. Sorry. I should have mentioned that.

Hm do you have a solid top on your tank i hear having a screen top cools your tank when i had a lid on mine My tank got very hot so i ditched my old top and got a 10 gallon reptile screen lid and my tank got cooler. Also if you have a light source that will add to the heat as well.

Thanks for the advice. I shall try to make a temporary screen tomorrow. But for the mean time I'll keep my hood on first. Thanks again

Depending on how your fish are, if they don't jump just ditch the top in general. If they do then yeah get the screen top. It will lower the temp.

Since I am keeping my tank and a good 85* F I'm keeping the hood on, but Delta doesn't jump, so when the tank isn't being used to cure him, I have a clip on lamp over the tank to give him light.

I don't know if my fishes jump, so to be on the safe side I'm gonna leave it there and see if he'll jump without the lid when I'm awake.

And thanks for the answer.

Oh, I sorta forgot to mention. There happens to be this crazy thing, your rooms temp will be forced onto the tank. So since my room usually never goes below 80* F my tank stays at about 80*F that's one of the reasons I don't have any other fish in my tank because most don't prefer to stay in water that hot.
