I know. The conditioner won't take away the ammonia if it's in there. I agree with Pog. Might be his beard. Won't make sense if it's only on 1 side, though. :l

what brand is it? how much water d you change? can you test your tapwater for ammonia? for a 1 gallon tank, I reccomend daily 50% water changes and bi-weekly 100% ones. that is an extremely small tank

THAT would be a beard ^_^ nothing to worry about, all bettas have it.

also, I suggest a water change, he has gill burn just a sign of high ammonia
