I just did a 50% water change. I think when he gets better I'm just gonna do 1-2 50% changes a week and one 100% a month like you do. :)

As said before, if it is indeed excess slime coat, it'll eventually just fall off of him. Sometimes it happens in response to a skin irritation or injury, and sometimes it just is what it is. Do you have any ornaments in the tank that he could have scraped his head on?

I think it was just from high ammonia in the small bowl I has him in. In the tank he's in now, there's a filter and a nemo decoration that wouldn't hurt him or scratch him. I'm going to get some plants for him soon

My Betta was looking nice and healthy yesterday and I did a 50% water change but when I woke up this morning his fins were looking clamped again and he's hiding behind the filter. Help! :(

try adding a little aquarium salt.add about 1/4 teaspoon..keep him in a dark place for now.but keep checking on him for any changes.are the bubble stuff still there or did it go away?

my guy is hiding behind the filter.i just put him in a new tank today.he is stressed.so that could be y also

Keep an eye on your ammonia level... Filters do not remove ammonia, the only way to remove ammonia is through a water change.
