Question please need help!!!

Hello

So I got a new tank and I told my dad we need to buy water conditioner but he said we dont need it even though we dont have any left I told him we do but he said no because we got a water softener so he said if I prove to him we need it he will get it. so I want to know is it safe not to use water conditioner in tap water that has gone through a water softener?

Thanks for helping

A water softener does nothing for chlorine. You still need that water conditioner otherwise your fish are going to die from chlorine poisoning.

Since your dad wants proof, have him read these:

It's not a matter of opinion. It's just fact, plain and simple.

In the old days (ha!) people left water out to evaporate chlorine and didn't need conditioner.

These days, most water companies use chloramine instead, which bonds to the water harder and takes 2 weeks to evaporate! Great for people, bad for fish.

There's also heavy metals to consider.

Water conditioner costs a couple of bucks, jeez... less than a burger and fries, to make sure your kid's pet is healthy and doesn't drop dead on her...
