male crowntail betta

I recently purchased a male Crowntail and placed him with 2 females. Unfortunately one of the females died shortly thereafter and soon the Crowntail's fin barbs appeared to either shed or eaten. Is it possible the remaining female did this?

Welcome to the forum. Betta splendens are not group oriented fish. If you want to keep a trio, you will have to get a different species of betta.

You need to seperate them immediately. A female only sorority will work in 10 gallons or more with a lot of hiding spots and plants.

If you don't have a spare tank, try to rehome one or the other.

I'm not into bettas, but you can find a lot of different species on aquabid.com. Do some research on them and then you can make an informed purchase.
