Smile Bettas?

So I just set up my 55 gallon tank it has two filters & 1 heater so everything is new, my betta does have fin rot though but I am ordering Aquarium salt, pellets..etc Anyways once I get him cured, what tank mates would be a good choice for my betta? He is blue, red, green half moon betta, he is not as big though & he isn't that aggressive he has a friendly personality but he WILL flare a lot, sometimes when I am writing with my pencil he will flare.

Would tetras be good? Please do not recommend snails or shrimps, I honestly have to admit that shrimps scare me, or at least creep me out :3

I think a shoal of cories would be cute :)... tetras would be fine... the bigger group the better with them bec if they are insecure they may fin nip... my betta has been fine with platies too... and zebra danios

Yes tetras are good. but i would suggest neon tetras and since its a 55 gallon tank i would get 6 or more as they do best in schools of or more.

The more neon tetras the less chance of having tail nipping problems with you betta.

Yeah I am aiming for Neon Tetras, I prefer Neons. I want to add Platies but I don't want my Betta attacking them IF he does go aggressive.

asking this question again. lol

ok for a 2.5 gallon tank that i plan to get i know that's a small tank but i cant afford a really big plus the fish won't actually be mine. but my question is.. if i get a Betta i want to get just one other fish what should i get. id like the neon fish but you have to have a school of them wouldn't be fair to put them in such a small tank. unless i decide to get a five gallon take. any thoughts or ideas. i have asked this question before the more people who answer the better! thanks
