Smile New Tank Debate

I'm going to order my fist betta from AquaBid tomorrow and I can't wait. But I need a new tank to put him in and can't decide. I've heard that betta's with big fins like 1 gallon tanks because their fins weigh them down. Is this true, and if it is; is there a heater that would go well in a 1 gallon tank?
Otherwise I'm planning on a 2.5 or 3 gallon that would fit well downstairs. He would be the only occupant and his tank will be heated but not filtered. I am open to suggestions on what would be best for him and have a big price range so anything works. Thanks in advance!

A 2 gallon is better. It's still small so he will hopefully not tire out so quickly. :) A Hydor THEO heater works for tanks up to 5 gallons. I have it for my 3.5 gallon and it keeps the temperature constantly around 78F. ^^

Thanks! I was planning on getting something bigger than the 1 gallon any way, but I'm getting a fish with these super long fins and thought that he might get tired. :P
I already have two Hydor Theo heaters for two other betta's so I'm glad that it's a good heater to be using! I'll have to get another one for the newbie. Thanks again!

He's freaking beautiful!! Nice fins. Good luck with him! And this is hopefully not a DOA.

I believe that is a common myth on bettas with long fins get tired.
I've had bettas with long fins before and they all swam just fine.
