Need some help with small world filter

I remember seeing a thread on this site about reusing this filter, but i can't seem to find it.I tried opening it so i could refill the carbon and rinse the sponge in used tank water that i just removed, but i was unable to break it open cleanly at the seem's as you can see in the pic ,but it does fit together perfectly but wont stay closed. Is there some type adhesive i can use to keep it together. Also i noticed what look like small stones in the carbon should i clean them and reuse them or just fill with carbon and leave those out .

You can use silicone and I would use the stones.. Bio-filtration, it's not much but it's better than none.

Dump the carbon. The stuff causes all kinds of crap to happen to fish. Like lateral line disease.

From your picture, it looks like you've broken the top off. I'm a plastic designer; we never use ragged edges on our components. Silicon is not likely to make the repair you need. I would suggest replacing rather than repairing that filter.

Goldfishyman is right. Carbon has no use in a Betta tank.

Gravel can be a biomedia. Not the best. Foam has more surface area for the bacteria.
