His tail is destroyed - what do I do?

My VT either bit 90% of his tail off, or he had a filter accident. Either way, I want to make sure he doesn't get an infection. I currently do a 50% water change once a week for the divided 10 gallon. Should I do a water change twice a week? How long? What percentage should I take out each time?

I would maybe get him into his own gallon bowl or something a bit more manageable. If you can't then I'd keep up on those water changes. If you want to help add 1/2 tsp per gallon of aq salt. If you have any snails remove them before adding the salt.

I don't really mind doing more water changes. It won't hurt the other male or the cycle will it?

it will but it wont. I'm assuming you have a filter in which case the filter itself is like a medium for your good bacteria. It'll re-cycle on its own and a bit faster with the filter.

The other guy will be fine.

How much would I need to change, and how often?

just keep on the same schedule your doing. (I'm assuming he's in the big tank still) It should start to look better within a few days and within a week you should start seeing clearish fins at the ends (that means new fin growth).

edit: if you do that salt treatment after 10 days you'll have to do a 100% (or near too) water change to get the salt out

Yes, he's still in the big tank, and I did a water change today. So just stick with 50% once a week?

Btw, your rabbit is cute!

thanks!
