Angry Sorority tank owners..... Do you remove the little ladies during siphoning?

  • Where do you put them?
  • Should each girl go in a individual cup or put all of them in the same tank?
  • If it's a tank... Any recommendation on the size of the waiting room?
  • Do you rearrange decorations every time you siphon?

Just wondering..... because I had a little incident during the siphoning & want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'll explain later when I have the oak tree sapling in the car.

Feel free to guess what might have happened earlier. If you guess right, I'll give you a reward.

did you suck up a fish?

how big is the tank? if its pretty big then maybe only siphon out water in a corner where there are no fish.

Yes, one of the girls went for a little ride.

It's a 10 but it wouldn't matter if it was a 40G. They followed me around the entire time when I was cleaning. They can see the little bits that get siphoned out and they think it's food.

Believe it or not, I had to run to the bathroom with the tube and had to blow on the tube like I was shooting a blowgun.

I don't know how Sorbetti made it through the whole tube without losing any of her fins. But she ended up cleaning the inside of the tube for me.

Do you want to see the picture? Lemme go upload them.

It wasn't intentional. I still need to know what you all do during tank cleanings. I don't want to put the girls in the same tank with no decorations while I siphon.

Let me go net some mosquito larvae to feed the injured ones. before I mess with the pictures.

Here's a couple photos.....

Sorry it took so long. I was on the phone.

Only 1 betta Miss Sorbetti got a free ride through the siphoning tube. She's missing some scales, her fins were clamped, swam with 1 pectoral for a while, but now she seems back to normal.

Sorbetti seems pretty happy now. She gets to hang out, and gets tons of food to all to herself. There was at least 60 mosquito larvae and 6 fruit flies in her container, but now they're all gone. No more food till tomorrow.
