Boy or Girl?

Ok so I got this betta and I was told by petsmart it's a boy.. Some people on here say it's a girl, I put her in her own tank and she's been fairly happy but I walked into the kitchen today and she flared at me! I know girls can flare, some people say look for a beard so I grabbed my cosmetic mirror and snapped up some pictures. Let me know what you guys think.

This is my profile picture.. some people say you can see an egg spot. I've not been able to see this on her IRL because her fins are almost always straight down and it's hidden

This is one of 2 pictures I just took.

And the all important side profile

Seriously, what do you guys think? - (S)he is staying in her/his own tank .. it's not like I"m going to breed. I just still don't have a name for her/him .. My hubby just calls 'em "kitchen fish"

Thanks, I thought so.. The problem is I moved my older, now stressed out, betta Ted (who lived in a 2.5 gallon and was all super happy go lucky in his own tank) into the divided half this one used to occupy (Divided 10 gallon).. now he's stressed and I can't tell my hubby I bought a tank and decorations for nothing :(

I'm sure I'll come up with some sort of solution. My crowntail has great eyesight and can see through my divider.. I guess I'll have to double divide. Wee new project!

You can try that.. or give them more time to adjust to having a neighbor (can take a few weeks) Why not put the new guy in the divided tank and your other back into his home tank?

Then I will have to explain that the blue and pink betta is a boy and I could have left the situation be but I bought a new 5.5 gallon and kinda didn't have to. It was blue and pink with crown tail and Ted was in his own tank 2.5 gallon but now the 2.5 is a 5.5 with blue/pink in it and Ted us with crowntail
