Symptoms and Treatment, just arrived in mail yesterday, fed 2 pellets yesterday, 3 pellets so far today. fish seems very lethargic, wondering if this is normal after being shipped, he is interested and is eating but lays on silk plants or the bottom so far this morning

How did you acclimate him? He might be in shock from different water parameters. And if you only have a 3 gallon I suggest cleaning 2 50% per week, one using a cup to scoop water and another with a vacuum.

Or maybe you didn't adjust him to the light? They need that type of acclimation, too.

Some Stress Coat might help him a bit. I use it for the first week with all new fish after acclimating, and never have problems with New Fish Syndrome (just my name for it..)

i took a half hour to acclimate in water, exposed to as little light as possible for about 20 hours, and have partially covered the light at this time, so it is still not 100% light.he seems to be picking up a bit now.

If you just got him, he may simply need to adjust to his new home. Sometimes this can take a week or more.

he did perk up after 2 days or so. he is a beaut. gotta figure tha pix thing now.

It's definately personal preference, but bettas can live in a three gallon and be happy...just depends on the condition of their environment

I love how he behaves in the 10 and he is too aggressive with any fish and invertebrates die shortly after.
