My new fish appears to have Velvet.. I don't know what else it could be, but he acts totally normal, and eats well. He's definetly heavily dusted around his gills, pectoral fins and belly and some on the head. It looks white until I shine a flashlight and then it shows up bright yellow.
I left him in a no-sunlight room for 3 weeks and despite the myth that this will end velvet it did nothing.
I am now onto medication.. What is the most gentle yet effective treatment for Velvet? It seems something with copper would be best (like CopperSafe) but I'm hesitant to use this due to its toxic properties. If there anything else safer that is also equally effective? This website suggests prazipro but I have read several other people saying that prazi is not effective on Velvet. Has anyone successfully and completely treated velvet with Prazi on this forum? How long did it take? I've also seen acriflavine suggested..
