Well I just have to say, you are more mature than most kids - and some adults - I know.

I do hope that one day you are in a better position to keep and care for some fish. I am sure you will make an excellent fishkeeper. Do stick around and learn things, actually owning a betta is not a requirement of participating here, I'm sure!

I wish you a good recovery! Hopefully you might be able to scrap some money together yourself to get a bigger tank and betta soon. Stay around here on the forums, It'll help you learn so much before you actually get your little betta!

From a parent's perspective, if that was my little girl in wheelchair, crying to keep her pet in good health... I would not be a hardhearted tightass about it. I am poor, and I do without things for myself when necessary to make sure my girl's pets have what they need.

BUT - taking a more politic approach, I'd like to show her all the sick betta threads here. Most sickness on it comes from people keeping their fish in small tanks and not changing the water enough to keep the fish healthy.

It's WAY more work to change water on small tank. More expensive to buy medications when they inevitably get sick.

Half a gallon is simply not enough water to keep a fish in.
That is brilliant,^^^ show her that how fish, like Heartbreaker, if you are familiar with that thread and tell her that is how fish get sick, and you want a healthy fish, and it actually takes less work, and cost less to care for a fish in an adequate enviornment to give you years of comfort, and friendship..or tell her to go see Nemo..lol..hahaha..just had to throw that in there..sounds like you need a laugh

Thank you!! That is very responsible to do and I respect your decision.
I'd probably hide that kit away so she isn't tempted to get one...
Or maybe you could show her info on tjos site that way if she ever wanted one, she'd know what they need??
