Wow.... this is the first ever I've heard of females caring for eggs and fry.
Congrats on the amazing female!!! ... and fry
Careful though she may decide to eat them at any moment.

Pictures please .......

That's amazing! I've never heard of a female taking care of fry. Please be careful, she may decide they make fantastic snacks.

Not unusual at all. I had a male that was a "mama's boy". In the wild, a female will hang around in case a male dies or abandons the nest. She will step in and care for the eggs.

i wish i could take pic but i have a chocolate lab he got a hold of it ,but the female still hasnt eaten any that i know of and she has this cute bubble nest with tiny bubbles.
I have had females like this somtimes i leave the female in the tank and occasionally she comes out the plants and looks at the male but the male had ick so i took him out then about five minutes later the female came out looked at the nest then just sat there the next day the nest was bigger with little bubblesand they were hatched somtimes females are better than males

I've had another female care for the eggs too, male was an egg eater...I pulled her after the fry hatched and lowered the water. She quit caring for them, so I pulled her. The females do have a harder time with the nest and keeping them in it. Good luck!!!
