Rescue?

I was really wanting one of those beautiful bred betta from thailand because they would just look so beautiful in my tank... but they cost so much money.
I found a juvenile that was kind of cheap $30 because it wasn't grown out yet.
But I feel really bad buying a really nice, healthy and well fed betta when there are so many dying betta at petsmart.. walmart.. etc...

So I was thinking about rescuing one tommorow.
But I really wanted a super pretty one.. except im no where near rich.

So what should I do?

Rescue?

or

Get a special one?

All of them are special. If you get a rescue, you're just encouraging the company to get more. :( But you're saving them from dying. :/
A Thailand Import, I've heard those don't last that long. Probably because of the huge difference of the water even if you do acclimate. They really do have a lot of awesome colors. :/
Sorry, it's all on you. if money is REALLY tight, I say rescue.

You don't have to get a Thailand betta you could get one on aquabid from where you live. I don't know where you are but I bet you could find a breeder that sells bettas where you live and you wouldn't have to pay a lot for import prices. There are a lot of breeders out there that sell gorgeous bettas!

Thank you! I wish I could say that there is a breeder near me.. but there isn't. I live in california and for some reason I havent found a breeder anywhere! Ive searched but most of the breeders on aquabid are from thailand :(

I think I might have to rescue.. especially because I am terrified of it dying after I spent a ton of money on it.

Indiana wants $10 each & about $10-$12 to ship. I'm actually getting a few of his bettas shipped to me this coming week.

I don't usually come across super red halfmoons over on the East side. I've looked at over 500 bettas in person since July. I'll be taking a lot of photos of the red ones when the shipment arrives.

So you're an experienced breeder? What kinds have you breed in the past?

You know I actually haven't bred anything but I have kept betta for many years and know how to breed. I have also had friends who have bred and I picked up a lot of advice from them. One of them... somehow got a batch of males to live together and not fight. I don't know how they did this. It was insane they had a 60ish gallon with around 10 males.

I have kept fry for people though so I do know quite a bit.
